FRIDAY!

Yet another Friday has arrived and another week of classes have come and gone. For this blog I want to simply tell you about a story from this week that I need to get off of my chest. I just recently joined a youth barbershop chorus called Pitchforks. This is a chorus that some of my friends are starting up so that we can get a free trip to Las Vegas this January to compete in a competition. We had our first practice on Tuesday and it went really well! We are all very excited for this and think it is going to be a blast! Here is where things went wrong. One of our professors/directors decided that he didn't like that we we're doing this because we are, "not holding up to the promise we made to him at the start of the year by giving his choir the time it needs." He pulled me aside personally and told me this, "It is as if you made the varsity baseball team and your coaches have spent all of their time working with you and making you the best player you can be. Then you and your friends decide to go and make a recreation softball team. Is this going to help the varsity baseball team at all?" Is he right by saying this? Should he be allowed to decide what we can or can't do outside of class? I understand where he is coming from but I personally think this is ridiculous! I can't believe he would try to stop us from doing something that we simply enjoy doing. It's not like we're going out and getting stoned or in trouble every night. We're just getting together and singing! I would appreciate it if you all let me know what you think about this. Have a good weekend!

  1. I think you have all the rights to do what you like and enjoy the most. This is college life and during this exact time this is where the talents are arising. So, keep doing what you like and besides, like you said, this is outside of class, so no worries, keep playing, singing, and enjoying!

    Good luck!
