FRIDAY!

Yet another Friday has arrived and another week of classes have come and gone. For this blog I want to simply tell you about a story from this week that I need to get off of my chest. I just recently joined a youth barbershop chorus called Pitchforks. This is a chorus that some of my friends are starting up so that we can get a free trip to Las Vegas this January to compete in a competition. We had our first practice on Tuesday and it went really well! We are all very excited for this and think it is going to be a blast! Here is where things went wrong. One of our professors/directors decided that he didn't like that we we're doing this because we are, "not holding up to the promise we made to him at the start of the year by giving his choir the time it needs." He pulled me aside personally and told me this, "It is as if you made the varsity baseball team and your coaches have spent all of their time working with you and making you the best player you can be. Then you and your friends decide to go and make a recreation softball team. Is this going to help the varsity baseball team at all?" Is he right by saying this? Should he be allowed to decide what we can or can't do outside of class? I understand where he is coming from but I personally think this is ridiculous! I can't believe he would try to stop us from doing something that we simply enjoy doing. It's not like we're going out and getting stoned or in trouble every night. We're just getting together and singing! I would appreciate it if you all let me know what you think about this. Have a good weekend!

CHALLENGE!

Well congratulations everyone you have made it through the toughest week of classes... the second! In my experience with college the second week is the hardest to get motivated for. You're still halfway in summer mode and don't want to do anything but sit around and do, nothing. It isn't exciting to be back anymore and see people you haven't seen in awhile. And lastly, school work starts and it's not all fun and games anymore like the first week. Now your life will once again become routine. Your schedule has mostly fallin' into place and you will follow this same schedule week in and week out.

My challenge to you this semester is to try and find things to keep your life interesting and up beat. Try new things, go to new places, meet new people. It's not hard just keep your head up and look for these things. If you fall into the same routine we always do then why are we here? Isn't this the time in our life when we are supposed to be free, try new things, meet new people, basically do whatever the hell we want to do! Just go have fun and do what you want don't put yourself in the box this year step outside of it and challenge yourself with my challenge!

What's up everyone!? First post and to be honest I feel extremely uncomfortable doing this but I am excited to do something new! My blog is going to be about college life through my eyes; what I see, experience, and hear on a day to day basis here at Northwest Missouri State University. No real names will be used, unless I have permission from others, so if you think you know who I'm talking about in some of my stories it is just a name I will be coming up with on the spot most of the time. Don't get me in trouble with people you might know with the same names I'm using please!

I want this to be a fun blog that you all can come to and get a good laugh from. This being said, if you all have a funny story or something you have experienced let me know so I can post it on here and share it with everyone. Like I said above I won't use names so no one will know who tells me what story, unless you want me to say who you are of course.

This can be a really fun thing I think if you all help me out with this and tell me your stories and experiences! Otherwise, you all get to read about my stories all semester long! :)
