Week 11

Hard to believe we are 11 weeks into this semester already! I feel like last week was August and now it is already November. The weather we have been having hasn't helped much either but I'm not complaining. What a great game on Saturday against UCM! I will never forget the feeling when that ball went through those goal posts, I still get chills thinking about it. Great job Bearcats! Lets have another big win this upcoming weekend at Arrowhead against Pitt State. Looks like it is about that time when the jackets are going to need to be broken out and the umbrella needs to stay within an arms length away. Temperatures are varying anywhere from lows areound the mid 20's to highs around the upper 60's. Chance of rain on Thursday and Friday but overall it doesn't look all that bad. It could be a lot worse! Last year around this time I think we had around 5 inches of snow already!

Northwest Homecoming 2010 highlights

If you didn't get to enjoy homecoming last weekend then here is a highlight video for you with the best of the weekend! Enjoy!

Weekend Fun

Well another week has come and gone and we are face to face with another weekend in the Ville! Remember, It is up to you to make it what you want it to be. If you wanna sit around and are happy with that then great but if you want to know what going on then here it is. Tonight in the Union is Greek night, tomorrow is the Amazing Race and Saturday night at 2 AM marks the end of daylight saving time. The football team and Volleyball team both face off against UCM this weekend at UCM and it is a big game for both of them! UCM's volleyball team is ranked 8th in the nation so wish our girls luck in taking them on. The big game for the weekend is 3 Northwest (7-1) against 6 UCM (9-1)! This is for the MIAA Championship basically so if you can make it down to Warrensburg for the game I would highly recommend going down and supporting your Bearcats because it sounds like it's going to be a great game! Last but not least there is also the MIAA Championship Cross Country meet so be thinking of the boys and girls while they are off trying to bring back a championship! Have a safe fun weekend everyone!

Hangover..

So the week after Homecoming in my eyes is always one of the most awkward of the year. It is like the whole campus is having a week long hangover. Everything continues to go how it always has but it is like everything is in a fog. You don't have the excitement of homecoming week anymore and you don't have it to look forward to anymore. It has come and gone and while we all sit here and live in its shadow our lives go on. For me personally it is the peak of my semester but now I have to put my head down, face the cold weather getting ready to settle in, and get to the end of the semester. I still challenge myself and everyone else to find new things in there class to keep them interested and to keep pluggin away!

Homecoming - Wrap up

Today was the awards ceremony for all of the homecoming things and here is how things turned out for Phi Mu Alpha. It was a very successful and fun weekend for us and I am very proud of all my brothers for the hard work.
Banner- 4th place
Variety Show- 1st place and peoples choice award
Paper Mache Clown- 3rd place
Costume Clown- 1st place
Overall a great homecoming weekend! All the Fraternities and Sororities won or placed in something and the overall winners of supremacy points were Phi Sigma Kappa and Sigma Sigma Sigma! The football team destroyed Fort Hays and our Volleyball team won against PSU in 3 straight games! Sounds like everyone was safe and had a good time so to me that is 100% a success!

Homecoming - Saturday

A VERY early morning and luckily we have beautiful weather! I head to Wal-Mart and pick up bags of candy to pass out in the parade. We show up at the Union at 7 AM to begin lining up for the parade. They have everyone in the union divided by what they are involved in. We sit there for an hour then they finally come tell us that we are going to head outside and get ready to start the parade. We wait outside for 2 more hours and finally we start the parade by the Fine Arts building. Our Costume Clowns was a real success and the whole parade was a lot of fun for everyone! We finish the pararde around 1030 and then we all head back to our places and get cleaned up. We went to Carson's for lunch and then we all headed to the football game. The game was descent to say the least we won big, as usual, but still an entertaining game. Saturday night was a fun night for everyone on campus I am sure. All homecoming things were done and Halloween parties were in full swing!

Homecoming - Friday

Thank God for walk out day! I got to sleep in until 1 PM! We had another fun day ahead of us and we were ready for that night because we had the second night of Variety Show! My friend John and I designed and built our Jallopy for the Homecoming parade which was turning his car into a train engine. Then my friend Andrew and I finished making our costumes for our Costume Clowns which was Robin Hood Men in Tights. Another great Variety Show performance and we head to bed early that night because we have to wake up at 5 AM to head to the parade.

Homecoming - Thursday

As most of you know this past week has been homecoming weekend and I hope it was as great for all of you as it was for me. I am going to recap what wen't on these past couple of days. Thursday was the beginning of our homecoming weekend thanks to walk out day on Friday. Thursday night was the first night for the Homecoming Variety Show and it went very well. I am a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity and was in our skit as the character Poopface. It was such a rush to be on that stage in front of all of the students and my peers. I really had a great time performing and can't wait to do it again next year already! After skit that night I went to a Halloween party and was dressed up as Little John from Robin Hood and also Lil' Jon the rapper.

Crazy Night!

Last night at 3 AM I was woken up by what sounded like screeching tires a wreck and then 5 loud bang sounds. It was then silent for a second and I heard someone yell something muttered and it was followed by the sound of tires peeling out. I laid in my bed terrified to move for what seemed like 30 minutes then the next thing I knew I hear sirens, and lots of them. I decide to get up and check out what happened only to be amazed at the site outside my window. There is an old red escort on its side with what appear to be bullet holes in it, a large black man laying on the concrete with blood all around him, and at least 8 cop cars, 3 fire trucks, and 2 ambulances. All right outside my apartment complex. I watched as they put the man on a back board and loaded him into one of the ambulances. The thing that worries the most is the ambulance didn't leave after they put him in. It was like they were just trying to get him out of the view of the public. A tow truck showed up and tipped the car back over and at this point I could see that it appeared someone had hit him in his drivers side rear finder pushing him into the curb and his passenger side rear tire was all torn up along with the passenger side of the car from where it had landed and slid. The fire fighters cleaned up the red fluid, what I thank is blood, from the ground underneath where the car was. And just like that everything was back to the way it was 2 hours earlier. Peaceful and still like nothing had ever happened. It was a very eerie thing and I'm not sure what to think about what I saw. I wish I was making this up but every word of it is true. If anyone knows what might have happened comment and let me know! Maybe my imagination got the best of me when I was watching this but what I heard and then what I saw seemed to match up.

On a lighter note everyone have a good weekend! Good luck to the football team!

Weather 10/11-10/15

Looks like it is going to be another beautiful week! Mid to upper 70's with 0% chance of rain all week! I't telling you if you don't get out there and enjoy it now it is going to disappear right before your very eyes here in the next couple of weeks! Everyone have a great week and enjoy this awesome weather we are having!

Ending Women's Suffrage- College Survey

Let's not let this happen if someone on our campus tries to pull this..

Weekends in The Ville'

So here is my beef with Maryville. Why is it that the only reason people stay here on weekends is when there is a football game? I'm not saying that I don't go to all the football games because I do I'm just saying there are things that people can do up here on weekends even though there isn't one! People complain about how lame the town of Maryville is but in the end it is only as lame as you allow it to be. Here is a list of some things that you should look into trying the next weekend when we don't have a football game or anything going on.

1) Go to the Hangar (Movie Theater)
2) Go to one of our many parks in town
3) Play ultimate frisbee on the football field
4) Play disc golf
5) Throw a party or go to a party (I'm not promoting drinking but rather promoting having a fun time)

It is up to us to make Maryville what it can be and we leave this place every second we can. My challenge to you is to stick around and have a good time here. It will make your whole college experience better!

Last Week!

So after falling behind on my blog posts I will now do my best to get caught back up! Here are 5 things that happened last week that were memorable.

1) Beautiful weather!
2) Football team won!
3) Fire alarm went off in the union during the lunch rush!
4) The campus was next to deserted over the weekend!
5) Did I mention the beautiful weather we had!?

Beautiful!

Ladies and Gentleman I don't know if you have looked at the weather yet for this week but it is going to be BEAUTIFUL! Mid to upper 70's all week and it looks like there will hardly be a cloud in the sky. Take advantage of this weather and get outside while you still can! It probably won't be much longer than a month before you can't go outside without your body going into shock. Seems to be a pretty laid back week as far as campus activities go so take advantage of the weather and get out there and relax or hang with some friends. Have a good week everyone!

P.S.Great job to the football team! 42-0 over Mo West! If you weren't at the game you really missed out!

Prank War 7 - The Half Court Shot

Enjoy this video everyone! It is one of the best pranks I have ever seen! It is HILLARIOUS! It takes place at MARYland which is pretty close to the same spelling as MARYville so that is pretty cool also! Have a good weekend everyone!

EXCITING WEEKEND!

Everybody brace yourself for this weekend it's gunna be a crazy one! Big football game, family weekend, lots of parties that I have heard about, it is going to be a busy and fun weekend! Everyone go out this weekend and have a good time but BE SAFE! Make smart decisions use safe ride if you need to because with the fun weekend we all know about the police do also! They will be out full force this weekend I predict so if you do go out and do things don't be dumb about it and get yourself in trouble. Campus police here are pretty awesome and really laid back about everything but Maryville police are a different story from my experiences. All cops will be cool to you if you are cool to them and doing the right thing so just make smart decisions like I said and you will be fine. None of us want to have to tell mom and dad that we got in trouble and that we now have a ticket we have to pay for because we got caught. Go have fun everyone! I know I will be!

My Title

Just Livin' the Life, College Life!

So my paper is going to be over a certain event that took place up here on campus my freshman year with some new friends and in a new place. I have changed a great deal since this day and it was the first moment I can remember in my college life here that has helped mold me into the person that I am today. I enjoy every second of what I am doing here at Northwest and really do feel like I am just livin' the life! If it weren't for my friends or being here at Northwest I don't know where I would be right now.

FRIDAY!

Yet another Friday has arrived and another week of classes have come and gone. For this blog I want to simply tell you about a story from this week that I need to get off of my chest. I just recently joined a youth barbershop chorus called Pitchforks. This is a chorus that some of my friends are starting up so that we can get a free trip to Las Vegas this January to compete in a competition. We had our first practice on Tuesday and it went really well! We are all very excited for this and think it is going to be a blast! Here is where things went wrong. One of our professors/directors decided that he didn't like that we we're doing this because we are, "not holding up to the promise we made to him at the start of the year by giving his choir the time it needs." He pulled me aside personally and told me this, "It is as if you made the varsity baseball team and your coaches have spent all of their time working with you and making you the best player you can be. Then you and your friends decide to go and make a recreation softball team. Is this going to help the varsity baseball team at all?" Is he right by saying this? Should he be allowed to decide what we can or can't do outside of class? I understand where he is coming from but I personally think this is ridiculous! I can't believe he would try to stop us from doing something that we simply enjoy doing. It's not like we're going out and getting stoned or in trouble every night. We're just getting together and singing! I would appreciate it if you all let me know what you think about this. Have a good weekend!

CHALLENGE!

Well congratulations everyone you have made it through the toughest week of classes... the second! In my experience with college the second week is the hardest to get motivated for. You're still halfway in summer mode and don't want to do anything but sit around and do, nothing. It isn't exciting to be back anymore and see people you haven't seen in awhile. And lastly, school work starts and it's not all fun and games anymore like the first week. Now your life will once again become routine. Your schedule has mostly fallin' into place and you will follow this same schedule week in and week out.

My challenge to you this semester is to try and find things to keep your life interesting and up beat. Try new things, go to new places, meet new people. It's not hard just keep your head up and look for these things. If you fall into the same routine we always do then why are we here? Isn't this the time in our life when we are supposed to be free, try new things, meet new people, basically do whatever the hell we want to do! Just go have fun and do what you want don't put yourself in the box this year step outside of it and challenge yourself with my challenge!

What's up everyone!? First post and to be honest I feel extremely uncomfortable doing this but I am excited to do something new! My blog is going to be about college life through my eyes; what I see, experience, and hear on a day to day basis here at Northwest Missouri State University. No real names will be used, unless I have permission from others, so if you think you know who I'm talking about in some of my stories it is just a name I will be coming up with on the spot most of the time. Don't get me in trouble with people you might know with the same names I'm using please!

I want this to be a fun blog that you all can come to and get a good laugh from. This being said, if you all have a funny story or something you have experienced let me know so I can post it on here and share it with everyone. Like I said above I won't use names so no one will know who tells me what story, unless you want me to say who you are of course.

This can be a really fun thing I think if you all help me out with this and tell me your stories and experiences! Otherwise, you all get to read about my stories all semester long! :)
